BI CUBIC.. NO SOFTNESS?

Hi all,
Anyone know a good work around when using Bi Cubic?
For Example,
I need to feather the edges of a rectangle which I selected BI CUBIC.
For some reason Assimilate forgot to add that feature in 6.0

Anyone know how I can soften the edges of a Bicubic? (without a plugin)

I guess no one really cares or knows about bicubics.
I had a chance last night you use it and I don't think it is capable of doing that.

Why not use AE, Nuke, etc? Although Assimilate would like you to "think" Scratch can do some light work composting,
as you can see, a very simple task of feathering, can not be done.

My advice, stay away from Scratch for compositing.
Conform, Grade, YES.... but no compositing.

About "thinking": A good start would be to understand that there are smarter ways to deal with softness on Scaffolds in general and bi-cubic shapes.
Try the Scaffolds\Masks menu, create one or several soft masks within your bi-cubic, play with softness, combine, change their blending mode etc.
Be creative ...

Don't you think I tried that.
The issue was a reflection

I needed to add a reflection map to a car's windshield. I said to myself, "self", I should try to do so lite-composite work it Scratch.
I had placed the rectangle (scaffold) on the glass section. I then Used BI Cubics to distort the image to the shape of the windshield.
My issue was the hard edge. I tried to add a "MASK" to feather the Scaffold as you mentioned, but I could not get the mask to interact with my bicubic scaffold.

I really haven't had much time to use the new "Mask" feature, so I went back to OLD FAITHFUL , (AE)

Hi Lou,
It should work properly, unless it was a bug in 6.0. But i can confirm it works as expected in 6.1.
Perhaps you should upgrade and give it a try ?

Well, I just use the program here at work, so upgrading would have to be done my the company.
But I'll take your word on it that it does work.
