I completely missed the Color/FCPs3 update yesterday...

It was like Christmas Day when the Scarlet arrived a few days ago. Now this. I'm grading in Color (which is what I know best right now) with QT wrapped RED files. FCP7 reads the files absolutely fine. I didn't realise that there would be different sizing options either!

Who says you can't have Christmas every day? Well everyone, except RED it seems :)

You guys have kicked all the doors open for me now. I was messing about with Resolve and I get that it's powerful, but it's so great to be able to step forward with this amazing camera and shooting / grading methodology, with tools that I know well.

    GAME CHANGED! (again)

    Thank-you RED

    Wow!

I just opened some old files and BAM the Redgamma3 an Redcolor3 just blew me away. I've often thought the RAW files lacked richness and are sometimes hard to grade. My producer on Merlin commented on it just the other day after I smuggled some Epic footage into an episode of Season 4. I think it'd be a piece of cake now to match the 35mm we shoot.

Thanks very much, you've just made getting a camera from you far more urgent.

it seems like whenever i put over 30-ish clips to be rendered in this version of redcine my system starts slowing down massively until everything crashes. i noticed i only had a few gigs of space left and then force restarted my computer as it was crashing. when i restarted i was back to having about 20 gigs of space again. is there some feature i can disable in this redcine that will prevent it from filling my hard drive with data? im rendering to pro res to a separate disk, so that is not what is filling up my startup disk with space.. i have verbose logging disabled

720p/59.94 seems to work now. But there's not frequency setting on the HDMI output menu anymore. I can only select AUTO. I would like to be able to output 1080p/29.94 over HDMI but playback 1080p/24 clips over that output. It seems to now change frequency based on record/playback settings. Can I have HDMI output frequency selection back please?

I would really like 1080i output so I can integrate into the live broadcast event environment easier. I'm trying to get the RED camera onto network shows I work like, The NCAA Final Four on CBS, The Masters on CBS, The Super Bowl on CBS, Golf Channel events, The British Open on ESPN. Help a brotha out! You might be surprised to know that most broadcast trucks have no way to convert a 1080p signal to 1080i. And I work on elite broadcast trucks. Last week I was on the truck that does the Super Bowl for CBS. I have to go the software route and output via an edit suite - I'd rather do a quick grade in-camera and output via HD-SDI to our video servers.

Are there new Mac requirements with the new Redcine-X build? I am on my third download and re-install and it always crashes on program startup. Anybody else having this issue?

"The application REDCINE-X PRO quit unexpectedly." is the message I am getting after numerous reloads and re-installs. I stupidly re-installed over my older version of REDCINE-X PRO so now I am without. Is there a way to download the older version to see if that works on this machine?

Just did the Scarlet firware upgrade. Just a little FYI, point 10 of the Readme file, "10. Go to the SETTINGS / SYSTEM / MAINTENANCE menu and verify that the camera monitor output(s) report back - Version 3.0.0 and PIN (value specific to camera)", is a little incorrect, I had to select SETTINGS/ MAINTENANCE/ SYSTEM INFO

I ran into the same problem. I accidentally installed the firmware twice, thinking it hadn't installed the first time. No harm done though.
