HELP!!! Scarlet down in Las Vegas.

Need help now. Can't access any of the menus on the touchscreen or using the redmote and side handle. My partner is in Vegas on set now with the camera. I'm not sure what the hell happened. Basically the camera is useless. Powering on and off hasn't worked.

If anyone is in Vegas (or anywhere) can help please let us know.

While trying the following download the firmware to a formatted card.

My recommendation is this start with everything disconnected. Even memory card and even side handle if you have DC power. plug the screen in while running se if it works. Reboot with only screen, see if it works.
Try with only side handle see if it works, only red mote see if it works.

If none of the above works you insert the card with the latest firmware in a top folder and have everything disconnected and follow the procedures for firmware update..

Thats what I would have done... but do not take my word for it to be the best options.

I called and spoke to Ramsey and gave him some steps to follow. I told him to call me back if anything "crazy" happened and the camera is still locked.

To salvage the shoot he had to rent a P2 camera. Really sucks to be on set and have your camera crap out before you've rolled a single frame.

He had to reinstall the latest build, but that fixed it. Make sure you take the side handle off when updating your firmware. That's the lesson we learned today. Not sure what the problem was. Thankfully we don't have to send it back to Red. Hopefully this was an isolated incident and "Kong" won't have anymore hiccups.

It's great to know that there are always awesome and knowledgable people here at reduser ready to help a total stranger. This forum is great. This community is great. By far the best forum on the internet.

It states that in the installation notes and that's exactly what I told them to do. Glad it worked and "Kong" lives!

It's hard to think straight when you get a phone call from your business partner saying they fried your brand new Scarlet. My brain switched from rational to "I want to scream the "f" word a million times" mode.
