Hey all, Sony bought up our independent film, Detention, last year after it premiered at the South By Southwest Festival... This was shot pre-Epics on Red Ones with Hawk and Kowa anamorphics and will receive a little trial-release on April 13 in 10 US cities and 2 Canadian cities... If it preforms well, it will expand... If not, it will live out its life on demand, cable and blu ray... We're hoping to generate enough interest for this limited run to warrant widening the release. If you live in one of these cities, please go to detentionmovie.com and see which theater it's playing at in your area.

US: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle.

    Canada: Toronto, Halifax

You can also read all about how we made the movie and how I tackled the cinematography in the April issue of American Cinematographer... And maybe THAT will spark your interest.

    Cheers!

I was wondering what happened to this film. Good to see it out in theatres finally. Good luck!

Well you're in Toronto! If you can check it out on the weekend of the 13th, you may very well help the longevity of this movie! Every butt in a seat is appreciated... Plus if it EVER makes a profit, I may finally get paid for my work on it!

    ;-)

Apparently the April issue will be given out at NAB as well, so grab a copy and look for my Detention article. It's out the weekend before, please try and catch it in the theater for it's hopefully not too short run!

Hey all... This months issue of American Cinematographer details how we shot this film and is on newsstands now. And if you're in one of the 10 US cities where we premiere this April 13th be sure to find the theater paying it at detentionmovie.com!

Great AC article Christopher, read it last night!

Man there are some ambitious shots in there! The girl out the window shot looks particularly cool....

Joseph's editing and montage theories sound so interesting as well... Got me excited to see this!
