RED's RED ROCKET MOBILE - Who wants one -

It couldn't get as small as Mark and everyone else wants but as I said before, it is totally possible to combine the I/O of the RED station with a RED Rocket, a dedicated CPU and memory, and a bunch of HDDs and put them all together in a moderately-sized chassis with Thunderbolt 2.0. Someone just has to build the damn thing with RED's assistance and technical specs. If people want such a thing, I'm sure RED will cooperate and work with a good partner to make it. Failing that, you can always put a RED Rocket into a Thunderbolt enclosure with the next RED station platform presumably hooked in via Thunderbolt as well. At this point, we may be due for another RED Rocket in the near future, so RED might have something up it's sleeve.

Yep. I didn't want the idea dying away in the forum. Once it fades away get a new one going.
This is an important tool (if we are all to use raw r3ds) So needs to be kept up front.

RED does need to eliminate the need for a tower. It's long overdue, actually. A mobile rocket would free up the pipeline substantially. RED might argue that one can be built with a MAXX Digital enclosure and a Rocket card. But really, an optimized, field-ready, battery powered plug and play Thunderbolt-enabled solution at a reasonable price is what is needed. The Rocket is getting a little long in the tooth relative to the camera's performance, please bring it up to speed, RED. We know you can!

I would say maybe the most important missing link. it's no mystery people shutter at the word "transcode" and without a ROCKET, film is actually faster.
