So we've been happily using our Rocket for a few years now I guess, all with 0 issues.

We had to temporarily switch it into a 4x PCI slot on our MacPro recently. It still seemed to work ok. Maybe a little slow, but it was working.

Now we've switched it back to the 16x slot and its being super buggy.

Its basically not working with RCX Pro. The rocket is recognized and turned on, but is having no impact on playback or transcode acceleration. Its routing everything through the CPU.

Even weirder is that it IS working, albeit it poorly, in RCX. Its definitely active and having an impact on playback, but not nearly at the level that we're used to.

    Any thoughts?

We tried reinstalling drivers, as well as RCX and RCX Pro.

Should we try the whole dipswtich re-boot? It seems more for cases when the Rocket isn't even being recognized by the computer (not the case for us).

    thanks

changing slots a rocket is used to be in can cause inconsistency with the system recognizing the card. you said you reinstalled drivers, did you reflash the firmware as well?

you can also try, another 16x slot, and also turning on the #8 dipswitch on the card to put it into safe mode and than do a full driver/firmware reflash and turning the switch off after the shut down and trying it again.

Yes, we've since tried the dipswitch trick and firmware as well.

One thing that recently changed in our setup is that we went from a total of 3 cards in 4 pci slots to 4 in 4. I'm wondering if its chocking bandwidth even though the RR is in a 16x slot. Tomorrow I'm going to try taking out the 4th card and going back to the original arrangement we had.

Definitely something to do with the bandwidth of the slots. Put the computer back to its original config (rocket in 16x slot #1) and we're back up to normal speeds. Weird.

But good to know that its not the rocket.
