Professional Sound Corporation in L.A. makes a similar cable (it's 2 feet instead of 20 inches) for the Epic/Scarlet and it's very competitively priced.

We saw enough comments on this issue that we knew we'd best serve our customers by offering a RED cable option.

You now have the option to save a few bucks but with the risk of ordering / building the wrong type of adaptor cable, or you can buy a professional grade cable from RED.
Thanks Stuart!
Now about that button mic for scratch tracks.......... You guys gonna do that for us or do we keep looking?
I haven't heard any more on this.

FYI CinemaOxide has been carrying this item, take a look, their prices are really good

Phantom power?
It will in a firmware update
+1 on this, and a way to enable phantom power. As far as the mic, It's just scratch audio so I'm not too worried about the sound quality, just something decent. I heard RED disabled phantom power as a precaution, why not place a sticker over the mini-XLR input with a written caution on new cameras, and a warning pop-up before phantom power is enabled in camera.

I bought the CinemaOxide cable, and promptly discovered that it's identical to the Hosa cable except CinemaOxide bumped up the price to make a tidy profit. The picture on the CinemaOxide website wasn't a match for the cable they sent me, I'm quite let down about it.
