OK, everyone, we're a go for June 30th at the Alamo Drafthouse on Slaughter Lane. I'll send out PMs and emails to those who've expressed interest to make sure it's on everyone's radar. I'm thinking about an Eventbrite setup to handle the $10 fee -- anyone had experience with it and care to comment?
Now for the $4K question -- who has 4K footage they want to see on the big screen?!

June 30th, 9am to 11am at the Alamo Draftouse Slaughter Lane we'll have our inaugural Lone Star Red User Group Meeting. We'll be watching footage in 4K, talking production and workflow, checking out gear from x and generally networking with other RED folks in hopes of creating some community for Digital Cinema here in the Lone Star State.
If anyone has 4K footage they'd like to see on the big screen, PM me -- I'll be gathering the footage for the event.

Got my tix and just shot a short a few weeks ago so maybe I'll talk the director into bringing some 4K clips.

I have a question about actually viewing the material in 4k... What exactly should we export out to? And how are we going to run it to project it?
I would love to show some stuff, but need just a little bit more info.

An excellent question, Michael. I've been in touch with the Alamo's DCP team and will be hopefully handing over samples next week. My guess is a .dpx sequence, which will then be fashioned into a .dcp package. I'll let you know more once I've got something concrete.

I had a great time doing this today. I hope we can meetup more often, even if just to share some thoughts and have a cold beer. Good work John.

wow, nice. did you guys all bring your bodies(camera) and take a group photo? :)
if you'd like a hand in organizing, we've started up an operator list. in the future it should have some organizing capabilities for future meetup type stuff...
