I'm about to start work on a project that's going to be in the 10+ terabyte range. My editing system only has 6 TB of space. Right now I'm leaning towards a Wiebetech system. This involves the ToughTech Duo Raid 1 drive for on-location backup. Then, I can pop one of the drives out of the ToughTech, leaving the other as a backup, and into the RTX series multi-bay enclosure back at the studio for editing. The idea is to go from acquisition to post as quickly as possible and backup the footage on location with the ToughTech. Currently, I'm just using Seagate drives and dumping the footage to my editing suite.

Has anyone used the ToughTech Duo? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9UZIY3Cna4

Can anyone share their experience using the Wiebetech RTX series? Is it fast enough to edit Epic 5k R3d footage? Which RXT series should I get?

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

    Jeremy,
I have been using the ToughTech Duo by Cru-Dataport - http://www.cru-dataport.com/ - for a few months now with the express purpose of taking it with me to shoot this years Miss America Pageant where I usually generate 60 gigs of images. I was able to shoot and back everything up right from the foot of the stage.
I have to tell you that it not only works flawlessly but it feels more solid in your hand then any photo can show you. You can tell a lot went into the production of it and I am really happy with its performance. It's a wonderful thing to be able to pull it out of my camera bag and start using it with no power outlet in sight also.
So bottom line - I would highly recommend it to you or anyone else for that matter - I think every photographer, still or video, should get one.
    Happy shooting.

Thanks for the advice. I really like the fact it's writing to 2 drives at once. Then, I can pop out the drives and load it into another bay to start editing.
