Hello eveybody. I was wondering if I can go right to red at LOS ANGELES to bring my RED ONE or if I HAVE to ship it. Because in Canada. It's 800$ insured by fedex and 500$ if I'm buying a ticket to LA. Less expensive and funnier.

Same thing with the red epic. I was wondering If I could pickup directly my red epic to LA because I was planning of taking the course the 27th-29th february and I'm pretty sure the red epic would be ready at this time.

Third, if the red epic have to be shipped...Who's paying for the shipping&insurance? Me or red?

    Regards,

    Guillaume

    'guess it could be done.

You'd have to pay Cali VAT, though...

If you pick up the epic you'll have to pay local ca sales tax (7.75%). But hey that might be better for you if your import duty is more that that.

Which would amount to smuggling to try to avoid. Not a smart move if you intend to insure/use the equipment in a business...

I understand your concerns, I am in the same boat; just received my email.
I guess last thing Red would desire is hordes of Redowners at the door.
Reds shipping cost my be less as they probably have bulk insurance deal of some sort.
On your end you can put less value then original 17.500.
I am going to have 5.000 on fedex and will look for other insurance options.
Did you check with your own insurance company?
All the best and congrats on your soon to be Epic.

Regarding insurance, who do you pay that to? How risky is it to ship something FedEx? What is the likelihood that your item will "fall off the truck"?

Check with your own insurance company Guillaume. Often its covered - and putting a value higher than 100$ on Fedex just means you're double paying for no reason. I looked into this when we sent our Red back for the MX upgrade.

So what happens to your trade in if you insure with a value of less than $17500 and the camera is lost or damaged beyond repair in transit. You have no red One to trade in. Do you lose your possibility of stage 3? In a way the camera is worth more than the $17500... How would Red react to such a situation. I'm just wondering since shipping and insurance will be a significant amount for a lot of people especially those outside the US. Indeed I think it will probably be cheaper to fly to LA with the camera even from UK. It also seems a bit crazy to ship a camera back to the US that could be sold in the UK. Surely Red would expect to sell more Red One cameras in Europe....

I'm not complaining by any means but it does seem a bit silly shipping cameras around when it could be unnecessary....
