I have to admit, I have never been inclined to name any equipment that I own. Seems like any name I could come up with always felt contrived. I thought it would be fun to name my Scarlet but nothing came to me. However, when I found out my serial number was 1474, I began to wonder what might have happened in history in that year and it has led to my naming my Scarlet, Isabella. In 1474, Isabella declared herself the queen of Castile. Let's hope my little camera lives up to her name.

yes the naming thing is kind of silly… but I've found it useful for pairing the REDMote to the right camera in a multi camera shoot.

I must say, I too usually don't name inanimate objects. But, since it appears to have been a tradition with RED cameras, I went ahead and gave my Scarlet a name. Since then, I've begun naming all my computers. :D

SCARLET #00377 Canon AL Mount Arrived in Seattle

We're calling it "LEO" as in Leonardo Da Vinci

00377 upside down and backward is LLE00 and 377 is a Fibonacci number which Da Vinci often used. If we get another camera(s) I'm thinking Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael. ;-)

Those of you who might have played the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim may recognize it- that's the word in the dragon language for "Dragon Born".
Given the next sensor I'll be getting in there, it seems appropriate.
