    Hi Everyone,

At the end of last year our friends at RED were kind enough to invite us down to their studios for the opportunity to build up a Scarlet prior to its shipping; and this is what we ended up with! What’s interesting is that this is a completely OConnor outfitted camera package (with a little help from our friends at Anton Bauer and RED of course.) This build includes the following:

O-Box WM Mattebox (with 2nd LWS bracket added to the top for follow focus mounting)

O-Grip Handgrip System (attached to mattebox for grips and the top plate as a centered carry handle)

CFF-1 Follow Focus (top mounted upside-down from mattebox with friction gear)

NEW O-Focus DM Photo Set Follow Focus (friction gear interface to the Canon L prime lens)

Anton Bauer Matrix Plate (19mm studio rod supported with Epic/ Scarlet QRC Gold Mount power cable)

    Anton Bauer Dionic HC Battery

And it’s all sitting atop the NEW 1030DS Fluid Head and Carbon Fiber 30L Tripod!

A short video can be viewed here:

Thank you to everyone at RED who made this happen!

Any questions feel free to ask…either on the boards or email me directly at the address below (I don’t often check my PM’s here.)

    Eric,
I'm very interested in this setup. With the O-Focus and the O-Box mounted on the Scarlet, do I need a riser?

    Hi Adam,

With 15mm LWS rods NO you do not need an adapter for either the O-Focus or O-Box (they both are native 15mm LWS brackets.)

With 15MM Studio or 19mm Studio rods (as shown) you need an adapter. My suggestion is the Abel Cine AB-1519 Universal Rod Adapter which is what I used and are shown in the video. This adapter raises the height of the O-Focus so it lines up better with the lens barrel (since it is a direct drive, i.e. no swing arm and centers the O-Box to the correct optical axis of the lens. )
    Hope this helps…

    Thanks-

I have been using an O-Focus Photo set with my Canon L lenses and I love it! With so many copies of copies of copies out there for a single sided FF it made sense to offer a unique and innovative double sided solution for both photo and cine lenses.

We now offer 3 follow focus choices from OConnor:

CFF-1 1:1.88 Transmission Ratio (Same as FF-4 for reference)

O-Focus DM Cine Set 1:1.44 Transmission Ratio

O-Focus DM Photo 1:0.75 Transmission Ratio (Provides for an expanded focus scale on short throw lenses)

We will be doing an official announcement soon on the two new FF units (just trying to build up stock to meet the demand but they are available in limited quantities now!)

ok just did my research I'm pretty much sold on the O-focus

been looking at the Letus and RRM Blue but I'd rather save up the extra dough and go this route.

You guys are coming from the cinema angle v the 35mm adapter angle. You guys know what you're doing.
