Anyone tried the new Arri MMB-2 clip-on matte box yet?
Withe Red zooms and lenses maybe?
Thanks!

Lewis,
just for your information - the ARRI MMB-2 is designed to fit directly onto 114mm front diameter lenses. You could use clip on adapter rings to the usual film lens diameters and also to all common screw in filter diameters of still photo lenses.
If you would like to use a lens with a bigger front diameter than 114mm you should have a look at the MMB-1 or the LMB-5/15.
The additional features of the MMB-2 are the attachable hand grips on the sunshade and the possibility of adapting a small monitor or viewfinder at the sunshade via a 3/8" combined 1/4" adapter block.
If you would like to have a look and try with the MMB-2 I am glad to arrange that for you.

Thanks so much Philip, I'm very interested to buy one, Paul @ Camera Access is making me an offer, but it'd be great to try it with my Epic.
The downside is I have to re-buy all my filters...
Dear Philip,
Is there a way to use only 4 1/2" round filters with this mattebox?
I see that it can take one 4 1/2" tray... how about two? I have several 4 1/2" filters (no square/rectangular ones) and would love the option to use those on a clip-on mattebox.
Thanks!
George
George,
no unfortunately there is no possibility currently. As this is the first request in this direction I cannot start designing it right away. A possibility could be using a filter tray which will fit into the slide for the Panavison size filter 4x5,65 but it will be not rotatable - only in the filter tray itself.
This filter tray would reduce from 4x5,65 to 4.5" round but I doubt that there is a big market for it.

Hi Philip,
Thanks for the fast answer.
Perhaps I can do a custom reduction tray myself... from 4x5,65 to 4.5"
Using a 4x5.65 and some kind of 4.5" round retaining ring...
I think laterally it can definitely be done, I'm not sure about vertically... since one is 4.5" and one is just 4"
George
