I went with a Kata R-103 - these are not made anymore, but can be found. I got a great deal on a new one on Ebay, and added a W-94 Waist Pack that attaches to the backpack for when I want to haul more gear. This is perfect for me - sometimes I want compact and lighter, sometimes need to haul more, and it has a great tripod holding system as well. This is the best backpack that I have ever seen for protection and comfort - and it is really well made. Worth the hunt to track them down... Not sure why Kata changed their designs so much, these are absolutely perfect.

@ Luuk, the Operational Guides can be found on Red's Home page under "Support and Downloads". If you download the Epic Operational Guide you will find the Epic's dimensions. Not identical to Scarlet's but maybe close enough for your purposes.
    because they are same

I have tried almost everything, and am very demanding... one of the best option, although not a dedicated camera pack is customizable packs from Max Expedition. This is a company I use and love. It's THE BEST ENGINEERED GEAR by far for adventure filmmakers. The best thing is that they are modular, so you can added pouches etc... Their padded bottle holders are perfect for telephotos and easy to access. I use a small Falcon II pack for my computer, day clothes, food etc, and small gear slinger for lenses or a lens + 5d camera with a 16-35 and another lens. When my scarlet comes later today, I'll see if it fits.

I love organization, and this gear is incredible for that. They have lots of little pockets that work well for camera gear. They also make small organizers that fit into the pockets etc which are great for cables, and small items like AA's, lens kits etc...

Colossus Gear slinger - This is AWSOME for anyone who needs quick access either to a camera or lenses . I Can fit two canon zooms in it like the 24-70 and 70-200, Batteries, a small light panel, filters etc. It's what I call my battle bag.

On my back I have a falcon II with two bottle holders attached for zoom lenses. Also a another pouch for filters etc.

Something similar to a camera bag which may fit a full scarlet/epic with a mattebox is.

That looks brilliant! And also in what is a very rare case for the UK, not a ripoff to buy from this side of the Atlantic.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned this:

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...rer_Large.html

I got it during the last Black Friday sale for $99 off...
I was little skeptical at first, but having used it now on three projects I absolutely adore it!!!
I normally tie my tripod horizontally underneath. It fits everything inside including my three Canon zooms and 17" MBP with RED STATION and HDD's (I use the new gen Rugged Lacie's).
It comes with a rain-cover too...

    Highly recommended...

I'm also on the lookout for a backback for my Epic. If I'm not mistaken, most of these backpacks require you to completely disassemble the camera to lug it. Does anyone know of a backpack "deep" enough (like 8 inches/25 cm) that would allow for a mostly assembled Epic/Scarlet to be carried arround?

The one I've just posted above will do that if you put it in laying down on it's back (so it will be facing you right way up in the photo above). It would go where the blue towel is - which is still a padded compartment (not shure why they show a towel in there in the first place...
Alternatively the Epic/Scarlet should also fit in in the top un-padded compartment when inside the black cube case. But that will dramatically reduce your ability to carry other stuff. Ironically the top un-padded compartment "floor" is an exact size to fit three RED Bricks laying side by side flat - which should take you through day's shooting. I have also purchased the new IDX single position charger that is actually smaller then the RED battery plate! It is also capable to charge the RED Bricks using small inverter from the cigarette plug in your car - which I also use to run the camera of the DC power supply whenever within extension-cord's reach from my car...

    The smaller the better...

Ok, but after I got my Scarlet and tried loading it... My gear mentioned in previous pages is not the best solution anymore. I still use the gear slinger, but the falcon pack is not working for me. I took someones advice and ordered an Fstopgear http://fstopgear.com/tilopa The bag is awesome. I got the large CSU and fits a lot. Another user suggested a nato or swat rail. I'll see if I can find time to take some pictures.
