Hopefully some of the REDucation alumni will agree, but in the post class we spend ample time discussing techniques and tools for every budget. In fact, it is extremely rare that I discuss workflows that can only be used on big budgets! The truth is, the RED workflows that I employ are used on the smallest and largest movies all the same. The tricks and techniques that I teach know no difference between a webisode and a 3D feature. Honestly REDucation is not designed for a specific "class" of creatives. Our curriculum is truly based on the belief that democratization and optimal efficiency can be achieved by every user regardless of their budget or location. Scaleable workflows along with a full understanding of color science and RED manipulation costs you nothing in practice, which is why we are able to satisfy the needs of every RED user.

Hopefully some other alum will be able to confirm our techniques effectively transcend the boundaries of budgets. For the do-it-yourself-er, REDucation 3D and the post course will have a long-lasting, positive affect on your work.

Got to quote Michael here and agree that everything is based around workflows from low/no budgets right through to high end. The workflows are the same process, just scaled based on the size of your project. What Michael teaches is best practice that gives you the grounding to then adapt as and where you can/have too.

I can't recommend REDucation enough to those of you who are looking for a total immersive experience. Its a place where 99% of your RED questions will be answered by a team of professionals that use RED everyday. If you want to understand RED operations, workflow, techniques, equipment, how too, case studies, etc there is nothing better.

Just my thoughts - its benefited me, and I'm still learning as things adapt.

Since I work for a government organization I'm always having to travel on a budget way below my tastes. Here is the hotel where I stay when I visit Red Studios Hollywood. Rodeway Inn, 777 N. Vine Street, Los Angeles, CA. I would not give the place more than two stars but you can get a room for less than $100 a night. The best part is that the hotel is just a block away from Red Studios so I don't bother with a car. You spend all day in class, then go out for dinner with classmates so you are only sleeping there. I have the advantage of flying into Burbank Airport. The taxi ride is about $32. I don't know how much it would cost from LAX.

If you need any other information just let me know.

Thanks John! Already PM'd Brian and would really like your input. Will PM you. If I go to this course I'm talking about, including air tickets and accomodation, something on the lines of 5000 + USD. Have to see if my current finances allow me to make it- that Epic package I ordered gave it a very, very big beating. Would love to attend it.

Another question: You guys are having a world tour, possibly visiting Asia, either a Chinese city or Hong-Kong. Any possibility of a Reducation with the same in depth program during the World Tour? This would really help!

I'm seriously thinking of going. Is there a limited number of seats? I want to do the REDucation and post course. February 27th - March 2nd. Gotta come up with the scratch though.

The UK course is not up for registration. Is it not open yet for registration or do I need to contact RED Europe at Pinewood?

How can you tease us like that? Post the NYC REDucation dates (AWESOME!) but without the ability to register for them? :(

Hello everyone, after a highly successful run of classes in 2011, the last few really focused on EPIC and Scarlet shooting, and viewing 4k via RedCineX Pro in our 4k theater at RED studios Hollywood, we are getting lots more requests for information and upcoming dates for our 2012 Classes.

We've decided to add another class in late February in Hollywood, again focused on hands on camera training and a heathy mix of Production techniques, optimizing the images you create, and moving them into Post Production. This time with a new twist (wouldn't be RED if we didn't experiment and evolve)

After the Main 3 Day class, in addition to the advanced post class for those with that focus, we are also going to run a "put into practice what you learned" workshop. 2 extra days of shooting a real project, moving it into prep for editorial, doing the edit and screening it on the big movie screen. For those that work in parts of the business that don't get a chance to really exercise their creative skills just for the pure fun and "learning on the job" We think this will be a really interesting addition to REDucation.

For those setting their schedules here are the dates and locations:

REDucation Hollywood - February 27th - March 2nd - location RED Studios Hollywood
REDucation NYC - May 21-25th - location TBD
REDucation UK - Sept 3rd-5th - location Pinewood Studios London
REDucation Hollywood - December 3rd - December 7th - location RED Studios Hollywood

    Marcos and Iain,

We need to finalize our location in NY before we open registration - UK registration will open in a week or so.
