EPIC being challenged by the 5D people...

Im tired of all those people saying their Canon 5D cameras can do better low light than any RED epic/red... then making those vimeos and youtubes to prove it..
Seriously.. is it true? Or are the epic videos they use to compare with just not post-produced?
Is the 5D really better at low light?

Low light...low light is nice for some situations...but what the epic has that the 5D does not have quite as well... Dynamic range. The Epic from what I have seen, does well enough in low light. I think I saw Graeme comment on a post about how the c300 sacrifices dynamic range for its low light abilities...And I guess that would be the same for the 5D. In cinema...you need lights anyway...If you can light well, then it really shouldn't matter much. ;)

hum.. so technically.. in a very low light situation and you are gorilla shooting without lighting for a few permit-free shots.. its good to have a 5D body in your backpack just in case ;)

I wouldn't trust the 5D at over 1250iso.. So basically, to me, I would shoot with the EPIC or ONE at 800 and push a bit in post, you canT compare the quality of the 5D and the REDs.

Over 1250 on the 5D starts to bring out hot pixels, and un wanted noise in the blacks..

BUT

in some situations, on certain projects, this is acceptable. On a project with a mediocre budget, I would never compromise quality for a a quick exposure.

im just trying to get info, to know if its useful to have both an epic and a 5D; or if the extra investment on a 5D is pointless. Trying to put a rumor to rest.
