We made a cool tool that makes 17D lut's out of any PSD document setting. It's quite cool, give the DOP a 16bit tiff file in as a PSD file, let him do his grade to it in photoshop and save. Then we run that trough our script and get a grading setup usable in pretty much any pro grading /compositing tool like flame, nuke, resolve etc. It would be nice to be able to drag those into RCX aswell.

We're still experimenting with the various post effects, and no, there are currently no plans to charge for Alchemy

Craig & Bjorn: we're looking in to these things for future releases, no promises yet though

It does if your system have the PCIe and overall bandwidth to do that (not a Mac Pro tower)

I upgraded from 8 to 9 today on set but now it wants me to update my driver and firmware. I updated the driver, but the firmware won't update properly. Do I have to flip the DIP #8 switch? OR is there something else I'm missing? I've upgraded firmware and drivers in the past with ease, but for some reason it's being stubborn this time. I resorted back to 8 fow now. Any advice would be appreciated, I know it's a n00b question, just wanted to see if anyone else is encountering this problem. Thanks in advance.

ME: Apple? are you reading this?
Apple: Im sorry, we sell phones and takes fees from other people who develop apps and sell them thru us... now, what was your question?

Sigh. What machine do you recommend for 6 Red Rockets? Any performance specs ? has anyone even tried this yet? :)

Hi Rob and the rest of the team,

I've been experimenting with redcine X in antecipation to the arrival of my Epic. I would like to know if its possible to implement the following features/Filters:

1- "looks", not unlike what "Magic Bullet Looks" does. Currently you have the different redlogs and red color, but could you have some "templates" area, based in input from some of the colorist that worked on Red footage, like, for example, The Hobbit, the " Girl with Dragon Tatoo", " Spider Man", etc. ? These should be just templates that the user could then "tweak" using redcine's advanced tools. This obviously would not substitute a proper grading session with a colorist, but would help for situations were a quick grader/workflow for a quick output are needed.

2- Is there a chance to add some tools like a good "Vignette", or "spot exposure", "gradient exposure" ? These could help, again, in a quick grade. Still haven't explored the use of different masks.

These would only be add ons for a more immediate grade. Should be an option and would obviously not substitute the current advanced controls!

Hope this doesn't sound too "beginnerish". In some of my direct to web and TV work I use extensively Magic Bullet Looks and love the interface. It would be great to have the looks functionality with Red Raw. Redcine seems to be able to incorporate some of its features, in my humble, user perspective. I'm not a technology expert so maybe what I'm saying is totally off!

This would help also for basic offline edits were the director/editor could show the colorist the "feel" they want.
