Forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong spot, but I'm putting together a budget for a small Red MX indy feature shoot here in Los Angeles in May 2012, and I'm trying to find out what a good rate is for a Hawk Prime Anamorphic lens kit. I understand that this is a completely relative price. Like if my Uncle owned a set I get it for a steal but alas he doesn't. All things being equal, what is the average weekly rental cost of a Hawk Anamorphic kic? Thanks everybody! Have a great New Year!

Older 2X or the newer 1.3X?

Hey David. Either. Just looking for a baseline to see if it's in the budget. Really want to shoot this picture scope and I'm looking at every option. Hope that helps.

Talk to Clarimont Camera maybe. They have Hawk C series (2x) Hawk V series (2x) and the new V-lites in both 1.3 and 2x I think. If you are after the anamorphic look, you want 2x, if you just want a 2.39 frame you can shoot that with the MX. 4 of the last 5 MX jobs I had were MX widescreen (4.5 K - 2.39) Works great.

^ I was going to say Clairmont, but only because they have their own set of ana's called Clairmont's. They are smaller and lighter, from what I remember, and maybe less expensive. I've used those anamorphics before a couple times, and I'm assuming it's because they were more affordable than the Hawks.
Thank you Red Team for unlocking/correcting the i/data technology. Cooke lenses are reading correctly and all his happy in Cooke/Epic land. Thanks!

Daniel's glass is incredible and they can get you all set up with all the gear for a tasty package. Here's a link to some low light stuff we did on them when the X sensor came out.
