It's a password protected login area so that they can see and/or download shots that have been posted for them.

Clients don't want their work to be seen until they have approved it and its time for their intended release. So if you are going to use the web for them to review material, you have to have a protected way to do that.

kidding... i do it so i can allow clients to see whats going on.. and get access to files.. so on and so forth.
