Uh no. You can view playback on the EVF, but you can not control it...which makes it worthless. And considering that most people don't have either their redmotes or sidehandles, it forces you to use the LCD...which means if you are using the EVF you have to unplug one and plug in the other again and again.

Encountered a minor bug this weekend. It was firmware 2.0.2 I think, on the Epic.

We were shooting some stuff at 96 fps and 300 fps, and we would play back at 8x or 16x until we came to the point where the action happened, at which point we would pause, jump down to 1x, and continue playing. The first couple times this worked perfectly, but eventually playback started to jump forward ten or so seconds and then play, rather than playing from the current frame.

Yes you can control everything through the toggles on the REDMOTE and SIDE GRIP through the EVF, been doing it all week..
... but without REDMOTE or side grip, yes you are forced to use touch screen.

All user buttons are assignable - pretty sure you could customise the user keys so that 1 and 2 on the side SSD move you through menus and the front rec. button becomes 'enter'. That might get you some touch-screen free satisfaction when without a side grip or redmote. Got to be worth a try :)

Ok.. After literally flogging the playback to an inch of it's life over the last 2 weeks in a very heavy 6 country shoot!

    I have PLAYBACK REQUEST :)

Since Im having so much fun with it.... It rocks, love it...

two small requests, if I may.

    1. A Favourite take or best take button. TAG.. so when we go to media scroll we can find the best take quickly...

    2. Quick play last clip playback button when using the grip and EVF. Allocated to 1234 buttons on top of grip. (touch screen is quick enough)

Other than that... I'm truly happy!
    PLAYBACK is king!
I love it when I have 4 client and Agency standing next to me watching a 300 FPS shot playing back 2 seconds after I have shot it ! going ooooooh aaaaaaaah...... :)))))
