To be fair, Vegas was also the first NLE to offer proper real-time playback for R3Ds back in May 2009 - almost a year before Adobe made it popular. Among a lot of other features and interface characteristics Vegas has traditionally pioneered. Many of which have made it into FCP X and branded "revolutionary" by Apple. Of late, in terms of R3D support, Adobe has been well ahead of the curve. Audio aside, Premiere Pro still has the better implementation for R3Ds, and got any form of native support well before Sony or Avid.

But, yes, it is of some concern that the Epic importer hasn't got an update for months now and is still treated like an Preview release (not even Beta!). Let's hope this means an updated version is around the corner.

Hey Adobe?! What's the deal? We have work to do! Why are you not fixing the EPIC importer?

Just recently I decided to leave my beloved Vegas for Premiere (because it just runs smoother with R3Ds) and now that happens...

    Dear Adobe -

Thanks for doing such a great job with CS5.5! Any update on when Epic audio will be supported?

Much like their importer, Adobe has been silent. :)

CS6 should be out in Q1. So I guess it will be a feature of it like Epic image support was part of CS5.5.

Ijust had the hardest time figuring getting audio out, so I went the simple route and dumped MXF files through RCX and into PPRo..

I did scare myself silly when I brought the Scarlet r3d's into premiere, and it was just noise, I thought my jerry-rigged setup had just destroyed an entire interview.

    Zac,

Thanks for the heads up on your work around, I've got 6 interviews this week wasn't sure how to tackle the audio issue. Just finished testing yours and a few others method on the forum and it works perfectly.

it was bad enough having to buy CS5.5 to get updated color science when I just bought CS5. I hope we don't have to keep upgrading just to get shit fixed that should be working in the first place
