Since RED Bomb evfs take 6 months to a year to land, i'm thinking of one of these in the short term.. or long term for my other EPICs

Are they as sharp?, bright? good contrast? good blacks, detailed whites?...
I've never seen one in the flesh.
I have used the zacuto EVF and the small hd dp4 on a 5D. While the dp4 is bigger, I strongly prefer the image as well as focus tools (peaking) that it offers. I really did not like the zacuto EVF, especially in comparison.

Yes Zacuto sell a D-tap accessory. A good thing to do is to look at their downloadable manual for the EVF, then you can see that it is quite versatile.

I can confirm that this evf works with the latest version of the zacuto firmware for it. If you have an earlier version installed on the evf then it might not work with the epic or scarlet. The upgrade takes all of two minutes to do.

The problem with the universal L-plate is alignment. Perfect & repeatable alignment is a secondary benefit to QR plates which many won't care about, but for those that do (macro & product shooters, mostly, I'd think)...

1.) Attached to the camera with a single mounting point. This means the camera can rotate/loosen somewhat, throwing off your alignment. Easy to fix if the camera's level, devilishly annoying if it's at a steep tilt.

2.) Dovetails perpendicular to image axis. This means it can be a hassle to get the camera centered on the tripod.

A thread will soon appear in the accessories forum advertising my Epic/Scarlet-specific L-plate which solves both problems (and adds a 15mm LW bracket sorta like the modular assault plate). Just FYI.
