Why do companies do this? RED follows the Arri standard for baseplates. Vlock for batts... PL for mounts ;)

Why not just make it Arri standard? What's the incentive to come up with a different pattern?

Beats me. But for what it's worth I feel the RED rosettes are a better design. It's not just a flat disc that bolts on. There a big beefy fat square block on the underside that locks into the surface of other RED gear. Honestly. the screws just seem like insurance on those things. But yeah I agree...this stuff should just work with everything else out there.

Since you seem to have both rosettes, could you give me the outer diameter from them?

Colin at Camera Accessory Solutions in Sun Valley makes rosettes that match Arri. Quite well made stuff...

It changes every day, but is always the same: research for Equilibrium.
I believe that the Image, as the language of Cinema, is formed by the conflict and harmony of the two different elements of life: Light and Darkness.
Trying to find an Equilibrium between these two opposite forces as I visualize different stories, becomes every day the reason for my creative effort.
The research of this is my own life.

No. They don't match. Red looks little larger.
