I believe the PIX devices have _great_ potential for us Scarlet (soon-to-be) users, especially with the cost of RED SSD vs price-point of the Scarlet. I mean, we are in a completely different category than our $40k+ Epic bruthas where dropping $6-8k on media is not as much of an issue. Of course I would have at least ONE SSD for recording HDR or 150FPS situations (with hoped for playback into the PIX?), but day-to-day for many Scarlet users an attachable HD recorder will be a god-send... at least until Moore's Law kicks in with the SSD market...
Here is a Q for the Red Team: Scarlet is spec'd to ONLY have a HMDI-out (no SDI), making the (non-SDI) PIX 220 recorder the more practical (and $1k cheaper!) option.
The Q: will Scarlet offer HDMI-triggering for the RECORD function? Please!
And - for those who want the complete skinny on PIX, their site features the Ops Manual as a PDF. Interesting read.
Look forward to User results here!
