    Cool Jarred...

+1 on Sven questions, been curious about it...if this is possible, then it will be good for those who feel 1080P prores is enough - answered thru http://www.sounddevices.com/notes/category/pix/

    2. What type of media that is used inside the PIX 240 ? - answered thru FAQ - NVM
    3. How big is the drive ? - answered thru FAQ - NVM

    4. How does it react to high framerate shoot in 300fps, if im not mistaken SDI limits is at 60fps...will PIX 240 still record ? answered max at 50i

    Thanks

I got mine Saturday, 2of them actually. So far they work phenomenally, but beware, both of mine have washed out screens, so don't count on them for color or exposure. So far there seems to be no way to adjust the color aspects of the screen, other than brightness, but the files it spit out are perfect. I've been feeding it mixed audio from a 442, and AES from a 788, flawless. Nice to spit the time code, and file names straight to pix files, and also pass red time code to the 788 files when quick, simple setups are needed...

I will confirm tomorrow, but I believe the way it works is that it's when you go into record on Epic that then triggers the PIX240 to begin recording.

Another nice benefit of this device is both outputs are simultaneously active. This makes the PIX 240 helpful for converting between HDMI and HD-SDI.

Hopefully can answer a lot more questions after tomorrow. We will be using this for an actual shoot on Thursday/Friday so should have the full scoop.

Also of note, if red would allow for 'record run' as a time code option, perhaps in future firmware, then we could trigger both the pix as it does now through SDI flag, and also the 788 for multitrack recording.
I got 2 pix caddys, which had to be purchased separately, ws not real clear back when I ordered them that they were not included, they are an awesome solution with all the added connections, but if you don't have the caddys then you can still use CF cards, or esata drives...

Correct. The Start/Stop goes from Epic over hdsdi and the Pix triggers off that.
As well as using the TC and full clipname from the camera.

For non 16:9 Epic formats, it will be letterboxed into 16:9
but we will have more options for how to deal with that in upcoming firmware.

Also, 4k HD will get updated so it's full frame.
