The screen is almost a joke, it's good enough for "Copy failed!", but that's that, it would never reproduce an image!

    Thanks for the prompt reply,
Nexto definitely advertised that Red support was coming - one of the main reasons I bought it at the time. No shortage of manufacturers and/or distributers making all sorts of unbacked claims out in the marketplace nowadays............. that's why it's such a pleasure to be a Red customer!!!

If you want such a product, it could be done with the proper engineering and I know it because I actually planned out the design in my head the other day when I was thinking about some other stuff that we had discussed on this forum regarding easy peasy storage products, but nobody is making anything of the sort so far as I know.

I've got two (Extreme and DI) and they've always preformed perfectly. I do have the external battery on the DI. Would be great if they had a larger capacity SSD version. The esata output has always been a plus.

If you want an SSD, just pop one in. They are user-upgradable. As to whether or not any old one will do, I can't say as SSDs are tricky little monsters.

What do you mean? SSD is the media coming out of Scarlet/Epic

I may sound foolish here but: SSD used in Scarlet are like SSD used as hard drives?

SSD is a generic term that refers to a solid-state device that is used for storage purposes. It doesn't mean any specific type, unless taken into the context of the device which you are referring to. For the purposes of discussion here, you should refer to the SSD used with RED cameras as RED SSD, as they are RED designed and customized to their cameras. An SSD used with a Nexto device or a computer would be called an SSD drive if you want to be specific.

They were probably talking about their video storage products, which do support the customized RED CF cards. Nexto has chosen to try and shoehorn Arri ProRes support into their latest and greatest but they have not stated anything relating to RED in their communications. If they are doing something, it's between them and RED.
