    Hi all,

Sorry to hijack this thread .. But it's kind of relevant. I'm a location sound recordist but I also do the odd sound post job. I've just finished a short film that was shot on the red. We used a lockit box on the red which was jam synced from my 744t.

My question is.. How do you use the autosync feature in avid to read the TC from the WAV file and from the red files and sync them. I've used this work flow countless times with FCP with no problems. The editor doesn't seem to know how to do this and is trying to get out of doing it by telling the prod company thats its a very long process and that it will cost a lot to do it. I'm doing the sound post and am trying to fix this problem now.. Before it's a bigger problem later.

I realize those is an media composer question but I couldn't find this info anywhere on the avid site.

    Thanks in advance

FYI f.. Shot on red 4k , ambient lockit was jam synced from 744t and attahced to red in TOD mode. Edit suite is media composer 6

What are you trying to read? BWF carries the timecode as part of the BEXT chunk metadata. Are you saying you redundantly recorded LTC to one of the audio tracks as well? Is this a playback timecode for a musical type show (like Glee)? Just importing the BWF files will get you the jam synced timecode. If the camera and the 744T were jam synced, the LTC record on an audio track is redundant... But if you want to decode the LTC - highlight all the clips that have LTC, go to the special menu and select "read audio timecode". You will be presented with dialog requesting which track this was recoded onto, and which AuxTC column the decoded timecode should reside.

Also, there is an Avid section in the workflow section for Avid specific questions related to RED.

    Hi David,

Awesome! Time for a test drive... Thank you :)

Quick cheeky request: would it be possible for the display on the Tangent Wave in REDcine-X Pro to display the function of a button when I re-assign it? For example, I like to assign the down function on the top knobs (rotary encoders?) as the reset - turn knob to adjust FLUT and press knob to reset FLUT - which then frees up the 9 lower buttons for other functions - but when I do as such it still displays Reset to Default (or something like that). Otherwise loving REDcine-X Pro and the Wave combo. Keep up the great work Team RED

    All the best,
More customizable Wave support is on the todo list.
