    Hi there...

    a very annoying problem, yes.

the workaround with terminal mount seems to work, indeed.....i had a crash after mounting the mag again with fw800 after the esata test, but well......

    to sum it up:

    sudo mkdir /Volumes/red
    sudo mount -t msdos /dev/disk6s1 /Volumes/red/
    sudo umount /Volumes/red/

"red" is the name of the mountpoint you set.
"disk6s1" the identifier in disk utility.

after line 2 it should mount and later you unmount it....

it''s kinda ok to hack that in in order to safe 5-8 mins copying time.

But lets hope for a driver update from sonnet.

NOW: as for the Express 34 pro card over e-stata: well, that Sonnet card in my Notebook no longer recognizes SSD's on the RED 1.8" reader. I have not yet updated the drivers for it...but after checking today i see one as of May 12, 2012....

    Straight from Sonnet's site - http://www.sonnettech.com/support/kb...tion=b659#b659

"I connected a Red Station media reader to the eSATA ports, but the media would not mount. How do I mount the media?"

Mac OS 10.7.3 will not mount FAT32 volumes connected to the eSATA ports of this device. (FAT32 volumes mount fine in 10.6.8 and in 10.8beta, so we expect this to be corrected in a future OS release.)

As a temporary workaround, you can manually mount volumes with the following procedure:

    1) Open terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal)
    2) Run the following command:
    diskutil list

Look for the target volume in the IDENTIFIER column. The volume will have a name like disk4s2.

    3) Create a mount point by using the following terminal command:
    mkdir /Volumes/myvolume

Note: myvolume is the name of the mount point you will create and must be unique - for example, you cannot mkdir /Volumes/FAT if a volume named FAT is already mounted.

    4) Mount the target volume with the command:
    sudo mount -t msdos /dev/disk4s2 /Volumes/myvolume

Note: disk4s2 is the from the IDENTIFIER column from step 2. myvolume is the unique name you chose in step 3.

The volume should now be mounted and is available for use. The volume must also be unmounted through terminal - finder will not be able to unmount the volume.

The command to unmount the volume is:
    sudo umount /Volumes/myvolume

where myvolume is the mount point you created in step 3.

"eSATA drives won't mount after updating to OS X 10.7.4"

Sonnet has isolated the occurance of drives not mounting in 10.7.4, which occurs only in 32-bit mode with the Tempo SATA E4P, E4i, and Tempo SATA Pro ExpressCard/34. Users running in 64-bit mode will not experience any issue. (To boot in 64-bit, hold down the 6 and 4 keys when the Mac starts up.) Install driver 2.2.9 or greater to fix the 32-bit mode issue.

So it's just up to Apple to correct the issue apparently.

oddly enough, Sonnet's new 6G express Card works fine with RED MAGS under both 10.7.3, and 10.7.4 - its actually quite fast and stable.

This leads me to think its more of an issue with Sonnet's older hardware and their drivers, including the QIO. So not fully an Apple problem........

This sucks, I did the firmware update and it dose not work. It was an expensive card and worked great for a long time. I hope Sonnet addresses this, properly.

Interesting, but on the Sonnet website the 6g has slower specs than the older Pro that dose not work.
