#1 Added to RED.com support section...
Gosh, with so many things that involve EPIC, RED ONE, Rocket, workflow, etc - I did not even know what forum to post under....

    That being said:

    * Note on RED.com that we have "tabs" to make it easier for you to find what downloads are considered "release" version and which are considered "beta".

    * EPIC Firmware Build 1 (v1.6.34) was posted as release version firmware. Yes, same firmware for both X and M EPIC brains. Important - This is a "no rollback" build. Once you go to 1.6.34, you cannot revert back to a prior firmware version.

    * REDCINE-X Pro, Build 2 (Beta), also posted on RED.com. Discussion in this thread.... And, remember, you can auto-update straight from the app if you already are running Build 1.

    * REDCINE-X, release version posted, Build 501.

    * RED Rocket Installer - posted both release version 1.4.15 and beta version 1.4.16.

    Thanks,
    BC

Couple of questions with Release software and all...

What makes the 1.6.34 no rollback. Are there features DISABLED in this which are enabled in the beta-releases?

    Release RCX...

Does that simply imply that this is the last "regular" RCX release or will there be further updates to RCX until RCX-pro is considered "release".
Would be good to know as to advice on "production" vs "testing" builds.

Thanks for all the nice toys!

No roll-back means that once you load it up, you cannot roll back to a prior firmware build. Right now, there is not a beta build of EPIC firmware.

I won't speak for Rob or Deanan on software specifics. But, in broader terms, "release" means "use with confidence". "Beta" means "for test and preview". If you decide to use beta on commercial productions, you are going in eyes open.

    LOL
We haven't been given many practical options on that level as to now... :) Thus the questions...

As to the firmware, I am still curios if there are features from the latest beta which are disabled for the release.
Will probably go release anyhow, just good to know before installing, especially as it is a no-rollback.

I think I'll just take a few deep breaths and wait for the initial reports before I upgrade.
