That is correct, but it is not a new policy. That has always been the case.

    Jim / Jarred,

When can stage 4 people actually place their order?

I like Gibbys idea of making the the PL or EOS mount an option at time of order.

    Thanks
    Ben

    Question:

A significant number of DSMC camera owners/users who shoot hybrid, EFP, and stills will want to use Canon or Nikon lenses exclusively on Epic - at least until the Red Electronic Lenses and mount are ready. I'm one of those. A PL mount is basically useless to most of of us who shoot these styles, because we virtually never use PL mount cine lenses.

Could there somehow be an option when buying an Epic to simply select which mount we'd like as the "stock" mount on the new camera? That would be incredibly cool...even if there needs to be a differential payment to get the Canon or Nikon mount as the stock mount.
+1 on this option - would much prefer the Canon mount.

PS and that mount looks sweet!

    I can afford around 12 K, around 17 K I cannot.

17K is the RED One crowd. I though the EPIC-S was geared at the upper AF100 crowd.

Hopefully there will also be a window to get one at a lower price.
If money is really tight, stop worrying and buy a Scarlet.

Wow.. I would kill for this option. Add my name to Elsie and Gibbys request.. I do not own a single PL mount lens. But LOADS of Canon Glass

I don't mind having both the canon and pl mounts but at the risk of being a broken record I have to ask...is the redmotepro anywhere on the horizon? It's not on the pricing list. This for me is the killer item that will slay all other cameras and further democratize filmmaking.

Otherwise it all looks good to me! Looking forward to the fall!
