Pleased this news is being provided with an unusual amount of advance warning. VERY happy to hear about the removal of aluminum from the lens mounts. It worried me. One gentle suggestion: if Epic-S orders get pushed back beyond, say, November, it would be nice to know if pre-ordering modules at the 2011 price would be less expensive than any package discount for an Epic-S kit in 2012. Of course, we all hope that won't be necessary. :-)

I agree with Steve. I have nothing to do with PL mount as I shoot wildlife with Canon glass. I am sure it won't be a problem giving an option to buyers whether they want a Canon, Nikon or PL mount or multiple mounts (Canon plus PL).

I hear Canon is planning to get into the game soon. One reason for going with this company (Red) would be their vision, incredible leadership and customer focus.

    Cheers,

    Question:

A significant number of DSMC camera owners/users who shoot hybrid, EFP, and stills will want to use Canon or Nikon lenses exclusively on Epic - at least until the Red Electronic Lenses and mount are ready. I'm one of those. A PL mount is basically useless to most of of us who shoot these styles, because we virtually never use PL mount cine lenses.

Could there somehow be an option when buying an Epic to simply select which mount we'd like as the "stock" mount on the new camera? That would be incredibly cool...even if there needs to be a differential payment to get the Canon or Nikon mount as the stock mount.

+1 for Canon mount option in lieu of PL. The new mount looks fantastic!

Also Canon is my need because I'll work with Leica-R lenses and Nikon F (newer G lenses).

Novoflex has all those adaptors: Leica R to EOS and NIKON FG to EOS.

And of course have some of Canon EF L glass.

    +1

Further to this - would the exlusive use of titanium mount(s) for Canon, Nikon etc also extend to the Scarlet Cinema?

Gibby, I like your comment on PL versus Canon/Nikon mount.
A substantial number of people will only use Nikon/Canon optics. This will -probably- also apply to me, although i'm waiting for the Epic-S version.
