You can't.
At this point you will have to transcode to Prores.
I sure hope so!
For me though it will have to come with a new computer. FCP X is fast but resource hungry. It's gobbled up everything my feeble Oldass MacPro 1,1's got, I shudder to see what it will do when 5K R3Ds are on the menu. The new Macpros can't come fast enough.
No way I'm getting any of the current offerings either, I'm holding out for the good shit!
Well I could be wrong but... one really never knows.
What is unclear about:
?
Everyone (yes, even the people like me who harshly criticize FCPX) would love it if Apple just started "doing the right thing". We actually like lots of things about FCPX.
It's just this (not releasing SDK to everyone) and other fundamentally dishonest things (Apple doing a demo at NAB of "what a FCP 7 project looks like in FCP X" - when in reality they intended on breaking a basic moral contract of software - that when you buy the new version of an app, it can import the older version's stuff) that cause all of the spirited yammering on the internet.
