  1. #1 Updates on Red Ray Pro
Are there any updates you guys can offer us on Red Ray Pro? Dates, Specs, etc? I think 8 weeks have passed :-).

My business partner and I are highly interested in the potential that this device might offer us in the post-production realm and the impact its going to have on the DCP format.

Yes please...I was under the impression RRP was to be in the Red Store and shipping in June -although I understand everything is subject to change.

The less we hear about this... the more excited I am getting... i think it means they are working on something super special here for the distro world. purely speculation... but its what I would do if I were RED.

Movers and shakers. Google buys Motorola and their tech, patents and customers...

Motorola has set top boxes connected to half the nations tvs....

We all know the sports angle by now.

But for me this is the big one.
We know that RED and Apple are, um...bed-companions.
At least they talk dirty to one another on a regular basis.
So when I see this...it perks my attention.

Apple has tech, content and customers and networks.
Oh, and Apple TV a piece of junk...

I wonder what else is cooking; and how long the market will be a 4k vacuum.

I wonder if the "All Grown Up" version of Red Ray Pro will look and perform anything like this:

    http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/product-SRR1000/

At $50,000 it's certainly more affordable than the SR5800 for mastering but for broadcast deliverables it's still Sony SR up here, and I would love to have an RRP to master to then take it over to a post house to make my submaster on SR.

Google is buying Motorola Mobility (Mobile phones and such), which has nothing whatsoever to do with anything we are discussing. Motorola Solutions is the company that makes cable boxes and other stuff. As for 4K products, that should all come together over the next four years but there is no viable delivery format worked out to extend the existing Blu-Ray specs and obviously a shortage of 4K content.

I'd be interested in any RED-RAY updates. The Sony and the Blu-Ray people are hammering out their 4K plans right now and intend to introduce the first 4K players by the end of 2012... After all, most every AV Electronics manufacturer that is part of this group will be releasing QHD or 4K displays this coming year. ...Just sayin'

Please RED... sell me RED-RAY! I don't want another Blu format!

I think we won't hear much until a couple of weeks before the world tour.

I was at Reducation last week and a Red representative told me they were working on both a professional and consumer version. The difference between the two was primarily the lumins outputted. The consumer version is targeted at under $10,000.

Are you talking about the projector, or what?
