  1. #1 About mix 4K and 2K at same timeline..
    Hi everyone

I have some stuff to edit a commercial, the material was filmed in 4K 25fps and 2K 100 fps with R1 MX. the finish edit will be in 2k 25 fps
Which is the best workflow to finish the edit ?.

I think that the best workflow itīs a create a timeline settings in 2K in FCP, edit with the original proxies and them export a XML to conform to R3D and import to color grade in Redcine-X or appleColor......and export a Prores 444 HQ

At the moment Iīve not edit material with mix resolution and different fps speed.

    Thanks

you can send an fcp sequence edited with proxies straight to color and it will access the raw files. do a quick test with a 4k and 2k clip and render out in color and send back to fcp.

Color gets a bit janky when you mix resolutions. Your safest bet (Though it involves more work) is to conform the edit into RC-X, maybe do a quick one-light, then render out to 2K DPX or ProRes4 for importing into Color.

    Thank you very much
itīs true about you say Ben, color itīs a little janky.
I think that the best option itīs send to RCX a conform XML and then export DPX in XML format......maybe I can use color correct into RC-X.
Have RC-X any problem with multicore machine? I have a mac pro with octocore and RC-X donīt use all of cores when is export clips.

    Best regards

If you're using the R3Ds in Color, make sure you set your render proxy to full resolution.
