Wow!!!!!! Shocking but this makes me so happy. Even though I thought it was such a logical move for him -- I must admit I was totally thrown off by the announcement made with Arri at NAB.

This is fantastic news :) Cameron's appreciation and understanding of great filmmaking technology is just more massive validation for the Epic.

Now the question is whether it will be a Pace rig ... 3Ality or ET Atom?

Great job Jim, can't wait to see the articles pop on Gizmodo and everywhere else :)

Holy fucking crap! You know, I seriously couldn't believe the suggested team-up floated at NAB. It just made so little sense! This, on the other hand, makes total sense. Congratulations Jim and your awesome team. BTW, will that help get parts for Epic-Xs sooner? More cash? More clout? Hmmm. Pleeeeeaaaassssee?
    Cheers

Amazing news, looks like the Red Epic is becoming the gold standard in film making.

I'm sure the statement is worth more to RED than the money on this sale (Although the money does help).

    Well done!

    25 3D camera rigs. Congratulations!

That's one hell of an endorsement by a guy who could buy anything he wanted.

Sweet! A major milestone for MX sensor, Epic physical design and RED Camera company as a whole.

Next hurdle/milestone...IMAX Canada purchases 12 alpha/proto-build Dragon cameras!

What's interesting is maybe the Alexa partnership is just for Pace to help roll out more 3D into sports, broadcasting, etc ... yet the Epics are for big features like Avatar 2.

I think Cameron also sees us heading toward 4k and wants to make sure his coming multi-hundred million dollar films are future proof. I'm sure the Studios agree :P

Anyway, this made my weekend -- thanks Jim and team!
