I'll make it short.
I'll miss the looks into the future, but hey, i totally understand the new policy. I always wondered how long RED is willing to talk about that kind of stuff, knowing about the woken-up competition (and of course the impatient users who always ask "when can i get it"). It will help RED, so i'm happy about it.
And hey, the NAB-announcements you've made are pretty amazing, especially RED Dragon was a big surprise for me. I never saw a sensor-upgrade-program coming after the introduction of the whole modular design. I see this as a generous gift to all EPIC-owners. That makes a few more points on the list why i love this company.
And Jim, there is no need to feel sorry about "missing" announcements or not fulfilling everyones expectations, we all know what happened and why there will be additional delays and changed plans. Of course it doesn't change my plans to buy a red...
I just know you do your best, i know it's worth waiting.
Dunno how I missed this... call them what you like, so long as I get first dibs on Icelandic volcano names!
(I'm considering giving the laser engravers a real challenge by naming my EPIC, as and when, 'Şeistareykjarbunga'...)
As for Ol Doinyo Lengai, the most stunning volcano image I've ever seen is from there:
Next time that erupts I'm on the first plane to Tanzania!

Sounds fine, not particularly rude, but what he must realise is they might have started dragon years ago and intended to release it at last years nab, in which case it might be out in time for next years nab ;) .
Announce intentions but wait until the end is in sight before annoucing schedule. might be a good moto/sig.
Actually, a better announcement style might be saying things like "Not this year". That should palate some people in the community, to concentrate on present products. Saying this year or next only creates expectation.
