    Dear All,
I am interested in LED light a lot, but its CRI makes me stop investing until MoleLED, which claims its CRI is as good as tungsten light. Anyone has first-hand experience on MoleLED?
Also, in this month American Cinematography, I saw an ad of Nila LED, but it doesn't mention about CRI and talk only that it is as powerful as HMI. Any experience on it? How is its CRI?
    Thanks in advance.

Nobody has any experience about LED? How about Lightpanel? I was seriously thinking about investing on Lightpanel until I learned about CRI, and then I hesitated until MoleLED, which claims its CRI is as good as KinoFlo or something like this.

CRI is not necessarily the best indicator to judge the color rendering capability of LED fixtures because it is a measurement that can be messaged by manufacturers to give high readings without giving good results. For a more accurate assessment of the color rendering capability of LED fixtures see The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' “Solid State Lighting Technical Assessment" - a research project in which they systematically tested and compared the LED technology available at the time to Incandescent and HMI light sources. On their website they have posted not only side by side comparisons of chip charts exposed under each light source but also set pieces, wardrobe, and make-up. To maintain neutrality, no brand names are mentioned in their results, but they chose lights that reflect the various approaches taken by the major manufacturers of LED fixtures for motion picture applications. You can find a link to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ “Solid State Lighting Project Technical Assessment", as well as other information regarding Mole & Litepanel LEDS on our website at http://www.reduser.net/html/emailnewsletter_generators.html.

    Hey King,

Comparatively speaking, Nila LED's speak volumes over HMI. Below is a comparison chart:

In regards to CRI's, it really depends on the capturing device you are using. The light intake differs from camera to camera effecting the CRI fluctuations.

While on the topic, check out some of the Nila LED Kits we offer:

You might find the Creamsource lights of interest. Excellent color rendition and some of the best efficiency in lumens per watt of any professional LED product.
