    What could the benefits be??

Would we be able to use a MB with 8x xeons, 2tb ram and the possibility to have 10 pci-e *8 or lesser x16 slots to built a workstation powerhorse for the new Epic???

How would software like cs5 be able to use it, would we still need rockets??

I believe most of the software doesn't scale well past 8 to 10 physical cores pure processor, that is what I have seen written (to lazy to google right now).

I think Jeff Kilgore has answered in a much more technical way why this doesn't work and you get into diminishing returns.

These highend servers are usually configured for special data operations; I.E. highend serverbays with specifically written software or modules (backend to more common software) that will divy up parcels of code to be processed by such beast.

I'm sure Pixar might have such beast, but I think mainly these such CPU reside in stock exchanges, geo research, and companies like google.
    Persistence baby, persistence.

I almost put that, I thought maybe in some areas they might have a couple, but if you know that for sure then there ya go.

    But somebody does buy them.
