Its a Arriflex MFF-1 copy, but looks promising and not that expensive either.

Have we no shame? I love arri products. I own an FF4 and a Chrosziel 206-1. But of all the arri products, I feel their MFF1 falls short as the arm mechanism just isn't that stable and it has considerable backlash. Reminds me of some other recent cases of over engineering what should be a simple concept. Now Letus is doing a complete knock off. Even if it's good, I just can't patronize a company that shows absolutely no vision or originality when it comes to design.

that pretty much goes for all FF under $2K. They are all OK, until you have to use it everyday for a 3 or 4 week shoot.

Arri FF-4 or FF-5 or even an old FF-2 are worth their weight in gold.

Under 2k, I'm still a fan of Chrosziel 206. Not a bit of play on it. And for those camping style productions it's great. Overall, you're right about the FF4. Can't be beat.

I'm a total noob. I hate to say it but I am. I have yet to purchase a RED and, like everyone else, I have been anxiously waiting for the new product line to come out. I bought the Redrock Micro V2 FF for a certain DSLR because, being a total noob, I just couldn't justify the Arri prices. Then I got to put my hands on an Arri FF4 and realized that I should've waited and saved up for the real deal. There really is a massive difference. The FF4 just oozed precision and reliability, while with the Redrock I feel I have to treat it with kid gloves. I won't make that mistake again. These sub $1000 units just aren't worth it.

Yeah, I've tried several of the sub $1000 units including Redrock. It had an unbelievable amount of play in it. Something like 1/8". Made it near impossibly to pull focus between 10-foot and 6-foot mark on a stills lens we were using.

Now I own a Chrosziel 206-01 and couldn't be happier.

I will say though, as far as budget follow focus units are concerned, Shoot35.com was the only one I was happy with. It's an unbeatable quality for the price.
