I'm not sure how I feel about "Complete redesign of the user interface". Every time Apple's done that recently to other software it's gotten stupider. More "consumer friendly".
We'll see how it goes, though.
I remember when Shake got a big rewrite and new interface from Apple. /s
Heres hoping that they've added enough features and improvements to warrant a new version. 7 was a bit of a disappointment
They did a lot good with the redesign of Logic when they took over.
This sounds right - looking at the release history, early this year was about the time I was expecting a new FCS release.
I guess a lot of people lost faith a bit because the last release wasn't that big compared to previous releases, so they expected an earlier update...
Totally true - I think we have nothing to worry about.
Interestingly enough, they randomly released 64 bit support in a point release update. I guess there's a lot more legacy code to port in Final Cut for them to have done that already though.
Where do you get that idea...? I think the biggest reason that they don't support Blu-Ray is because optical media is getting to be a bit of a dead end.
I'm hoping that in a few years, most movies will be available as a 4K RED RAY download...
It's getting to be a dead end and there's still no sign of it? So maybe Apple should of released BR support back in 06, hell why not 07, but wait what's the hurry we're in 2011 and still nothing.
I'd love for nothing more to be able to film, playback, and burn 4k material but that's not gonna happen for a while.
I would be very happy to see a LOT of Motion integrated into FCP, but keep Motion as a stand alone application. Just give me a 3D camera in FCP and 64bit with better GPU optimization and I'll be a happy camper. Wait Cinema Tools integration is also a MUST. Multi-Room Color grading would be nice also. You know what... just take Smoke for Mac, give it a more "Apple" UI and sell it for $1500. :-)
I've been doing a lot of complex comps in Motion and I'm falling in love with this little compositor. It certainly isn't NUKE, but for quick comps and fluid motion graphics it shines. I hope it will stay as a stand alone app.
SoundTrack Pro (32bit) is next to useless with large arrangements and large multi-track projects synced to picture. I was trying to mix to picture a feature project (200 min) and it literally took 5 minutes to open the project, a single cpu core chugging along. I love the ADR multi-take options but they could be much improved.
I have to admit, if Color is fully integrated into FCP and Color the App disappears, I would not miss it at all...
My .02 cents...
