    No look around in the full res format but what's becoming more
    common is to frame smaller and record the look around.
    RED.com says 27.65 what is the 27.65 number and would 4k then be: 21.97mm?

    I thought RED One MX 4k was 22.12mm

    Probably wouldn't be noticeable in tracking etc but always nice to be thorough and accurate.

    for your own math: 4096 x 0.0054 (pixel-size) = 22.12

    4096x2160 = 1.896:1
    2048x1080 = 1.896:1
    So... what are the largest dimensions of the Epic sensor for Anamorphic use? 4K ANA or 5K ANA???

    Also...just out of curiosity, if most ANA lenses are 2:1 why isn't the Red censor in ANA mode not just the largest square available?

    Thanks

    Remember that the image ratio you want to end up with is 2.40:1, so the 2x squeeze means you need a "native" (i.e. unsqueezed) ratio of 1.20:1 on the sensor/neg (2.40/2 = 1.20).

    If you went with the largest square, then you'd get 2700x2700, which when cropped down to give a 2.40:1 unsqueezed image would give you an effective 2700x2250 resolution.

    Assuming full height recording @ 1.2:1 native (aka 5K ANA), your pixel dimensions would be 3240x2700 - so much larger (44%) than using the largest square available...

    Hope that helps,
    Dom.
