    Epic S35's 5K FF is 5120x2700 and is a 1.896:1 aspect ratio.

    1.896: is also the ratio for the 4k/2k DCI formats:
    4096x2160 = 1.896:1
    2048x1080 = 1.896:1

    1. That is awesome

    2. Just so that I can understand future updates from RED... what will that "35mm Still Full Frame / VistaVision / Monstro" camera you guys are working on be called now?

    It used to be FF35 but I figure that next time Jim talks about FF he will now be talking about the S35 one?

    Is there still an unrecorded lookaround area in the EVF when shooting 5K in this aspect ratio?

    That's fantastic - loving those 2700 vertical.. It's great news for 16:9 shoots, and those that want to go anamorphic.

    Deanan - what's 5120x2700 in millimeters?

    No look around in the full res format but what's becoming more
    common is to frame smaller and record the look around.

    Try reading this and see if it makes sense:
    http://www.dcimovies.com/DCIDigitalC...emSpecv1_2.pdf

    I believe it says that the 2K DCP package is 2048 x 1080 (1.89629 : 1), but from that, the 2K projector shows either 2048 x 858 pixels for 2.39 movies or 1998 x 1080 pixels for 1.85 movies. But I'm not sure if that means the 2K DCP master is always 2048 x 1080 with letterboxing on the top & bottom or left and right sides to accommodate those aspect ratios.

    So you can setup frameguides...

    Will those be recorded as metadata for RCX?
    We will be able to crop the sensor on recording too, I guess - down the line...
