Epic and Epic X (or maybe Extreme) sounds good.

"Light" is more appropriated for 1080P cameras...
    My thinking too.

I think this makes complete sense. The Scarlet S35 was just way too close to Epic and totally confused your offering. I totally applaud your decision!

Now what's the price going to be on Epic light? I think $14000 would be a good starting point - half the cost of Epic X. Any thoughts?

    Best wishes

I am not gonna say anything in fear of getting banned here - I hope you see what is wrong with this by yourself.

Another thought about differentiating the Scarlet and Epic range - If it was me, then I would lock Scarlet at 1080 resolution and aim it squarely at the TV/Broadcast market where there HD will be the norm for many years to come.

This leaves Epic the clear choice for higher end projects where it clearly belongs. I just never quite understood RED's thinking in making the Scarlet so similar to Epic.

    Thats great news Jim!!
I was wondering why I even needed to buy an EPIC X if the Scarlet s35 was going to have most of the features. minus the HDR an frame rates.
I'm very happy now that my investment is now safe again with the Epic X
Fully agree with your stance on this.

We're all having a little fun over naming, no harm in that and of course it will be Jim who decides in the end, but on a serious note I think this latest revision to the plan is a very good one. Congratulations to Jim and all at RED for getting so close to an EPIC release, the next couple of weeks should be very interesting as more information gets posted.
    Regards

    George

How about just Epic for the light version and Epic-X for the high performance version?
