Even if the R1 side module is weeks away, the 1.8" SSD media does not sound like it is in a production phase if there will be machined 1.8" SSD dives the the Epic-M owners.

Why would anyone want to pay twice the price for a machined 1.8" SSD drive if there were going to be ... already pricey ... production units available in the next two months?

Thats the beauty.. the choice is yours. Some people dont get the whole machined vs. cast thing.. but that is ok. For some, who are about to shoot a project, 2 months can be a lifetime. But, the choice is yours. We will sell Machined media to R1 owners who don't want to wait ( if we can machine enough to keep up with the demand ). and it wont be twice the price.

yes pretty exciting.. the side SSD mag for R1 will actually be ready before the cast SSD mags are. There have been quite a few big wows in this program along the way, for me switching to SSD on camera and SSD red stations have definitely been one of them. even just copying files from cards to computer is enough never to look back...

And in your opinion, will production of these modules be in high quantities? As you know, many of us will be hitting the buy button in rapid succession...are they very hard to build? Just trying to figure out how long after they are ready will it take to get one.... Give a ball park answer.... Like weeks, 1 month, 3 months?

We really can't make too many. The machining takes a ton of time (hence part of the price) and assembly and testing is slow. I don't know the exact number but "limited" actually means something with these...

So I realize you havent officially stated a price, but doing a rough guestimate here on a setup of EpicM would be about this?

EpicM Brain: $45,000
EpicM SSD Module: $3,000
EpicM Side Handle: $1,900
Titanium Mount: $3,000
4x 64gb: $2,000

= $54,900?

I get it. I just think that a $3,600.00 128GB and a $6,400.00 256GB 1.8" SSD Drive is going to be a hard sell.
