Brain with Side Handle and SSD module weigh 5 pounds 12 ounces.

Does that include the side handle battery?

So if we were just wanting to shoot stills with some nice still primes we could easily be looking at a camera weighing less than 7 pounds. Cool.

Long ago (feels that way...) when the newer accessories (Pro I/O, SSD drive, etc) started to come out, it was asked if those of us on Stage II would be able to "trade up" to the better stuff for the difference of what we were going to get in Stage II deal.

Now that we're all going to start really putting our money out there in preperation for what I HOPE to be cameras coming out in 2 or 3 months, I'd like to ask for a more "official" policy on the Epic-X package and how it will all work.

For myself,

I'm looking to upgrade the Base IO module to the Pro IO module, as well as upgrading the side CF Card module to the side SSD module.

Can you or somebody there give me a better idea of how this is all going to work?

Also (Last thing, I promise) Will the Canon and Nikon mounts have full control of their respective lenses or will this feature come later with perhaps only iris control at first.

It does yes. Each Brain has 2 -channel Microphone inputs.



The Brain has most of those anyway, but if you want to compare to RED ONE, add a PRO I/O which would add less than 2 lbs.

I've always been a bit concerned that modularity would add weight with functionality. Glad to know it will be a reasonable and attractive weight for shoulder handheld.

Jarred actually said the side CF module has been canceled and the side SSD module will be the default. There will be a CF card adapter that pops in the SSD module for when you absolutely need CF.

The side and rear SSD recording modules are available first.. in fact the Side SSD is the standard side module, we will not be making a side CF module for Epic. Don't worry though, there is an SSD adapter that turns CF cards into an SSD mag so you can still use all your CF cards in either the side SSD or read SSD modules.
