    Does the ten pound configutarion allow you to record sound?
    It does yes. Each Brain has 2 -channel Microphone inputs.

    How does it compare to R1 when it has pro audio ability, HD-SDI out, genlock, TC and all of what is packed into the R1.
    The Brain has most of those anyway, but if you want to compare to RED ONE, add a PRO I/O which would add less than 2 lbs.
