Can STORM access Cooke i-data/LDS from the metadata?

Do the Foundry plan to work on this - could we ever access this data for SFX work ?
We own Cooke and RED lenses that transmit this data and have been waiting patiently for RED to make some announcement.

With the impending arrival of EPIC and electronic mounts for RED, Canon and Nikon lenses there must be a case for more metadata on lens info and the means to do things with it

Please please consider working on this!

    thanks Mike

If it's recorded as metadata on camera then Storm could access it. I haven't looked at it for a while now but does the camera actually record it as metadata?

The metadata section of Storm is very good. I don't see it being a problem reporting anything that the camera creates. How it would use it would be another thing.

Stuart English confirmed the i-data was in the metadata in this thread back in March 2009

but nobody has spotted it since!

    cheers Mike

I can't find the thread but as Mike mentioned it has been confirmed that it is in the metadata. However, someone from Red said that while it is in the metadata it is not viewable, yet. So I took this that while you can't access it now, but it is in the works for this to be viewable in the future.

Metadata is really important to our strategy with STORM. If there is metadata in the R3D which is accessible through the SDK we reveal it in STORM now. That means you can search, sort, filter, etc on that metadata.
Later we plan to support other sources of metadata so that you can use STORM as the hub for all that useful info.

    Thanks for the reply Chris

This would be such a useful feature even if just implemented as metadata tagging, although being able to track lens info (eg motion control shots, complex compositing etc) would be on my wish list

I hope RED will make i-data viewable in the metadata and available in the SDK asap

    cheers Mike

Mike taking that even further would be able to tie into a central database of lens data and distortion grids for a number of different uses like vfx and 3d work.
I have been working on a database with a few studios and owners this would be totally open source and something Storm in the future could tie into .
