I was wondering if anyone had opinions or any direct knowledge (or if someone from red could comment) about why on the R1 the EVF port cannot support another red monitor (5 inch or 7) ?

I could not find any other discussion on this, so please point me in the right direction if I have missed something here from a previous thread.

My only though is that it is a power issue as I would guess that the EVF require less power.

Anyway, to me it seems like a fireware update, but it's just guess work.

    Thanks Again

    - Things usually work out better than you plan. When you`re shooting a film you`re so close to it, it rarely lives up to your expectations while you`re there. You always want it to be better, more perfect. When you see a cut, maybe two or three months later, you come to it fresh. It`s generally much better than you thought it would be" RD

the evf and the red lcd have different aspect ratios, so the camera scales the output to three different outputs, one for the evf, one for the lcd and one for the hd-sdi output. i cant remember the actual pixel aspect ratios but i know that the lcd is the smallest, followed by the evf then the hd-sdi.

we have been asking for multiple red monitor output for 3+ year brother, we feel your pain.

Just get a Panasonic 7.9 or 8.5. The resolution off of the SDI is 1280x720 and the RED LCD is 1024x600.
