The Cartoni Delta is a great alternative to the 1030 too. But I sold my RedOne and so I'm selling my delta too. The Epic might be lighter, but the lens and everything that goes with it doesn't get any lighter. :)

i mean.. not really, cuz im not THAT bad of a Operator/DP..

but its what goes through my mind...
What base are people using with the 1030's? Mitchell, 100, 150? I know they're not that hard to swap out, so I figure I'll have a ball mount for my own purposes, and a Mitchell to swap to for productions that expect it... (though, generally that means they're expecting a 2060...)

Most of the 1030's I've used have been 100mm ball, with the Oconnor legs.

    Sturdy, but would prefer 150mm.

Long time Alexis, how have you been?

I use 1030s on both 100mm & 150mm balls. Prefer the latter. Seems a bit more robust, stable, easier to fine adjust. On Sachtler CF legs. Very light, very stable. very fast.

Our 1030HDS is 100mm bowl and rests on O'Connor 25L carbon fiber sticks.

I have had my Red the 1030HDS on the Miller 1576 Sprinter II two stage carbon Fiber legs. Easy to use and light weight, yet sturdy enough for the Red. Specs say it will handle 99 lbs. Can't wait to use this setup with Epic.

For a lightweight setup I love my O'Connor 1030HDS and Miller Solo DV Carbon sticks. Every shooter that I've shown or rented to has been impressed by the light weight, decent amount of drag and amazing hi-low capability.
That is, as long as they weren't expecting a 2575.
It's certainly not cheap but the familiar functionality to a 2575 and positive engaging tilt lock alone is worth every penny imho.
I plan on getting the mitchell adapter for the 1030HDS soon, which is another great option to have - without an adapter.
    Hope that helps,

Just bought a used 1030hd with 25l legs and it has been awesome with my red one setup. Perfect for me since I am almost exclusively using it with a birger ef mount.

I still have my Miller Arrow head and received new SOLO legs last week as a replacement to my old carbon fibers...really nice on my MX.

Certain shoots require the 2575 but I don't miss having to lug it and my Ronfords around -I'll leave that for the feature stuff.

I have always been proud of O'Connor's Fluid Heads, and with the new 2065D they out deed them selves, the 2575D is an
absolute Fantastic Head, and will have several for our EPIC/ATOM 3D rigs, but after careful consideration I have decided
that the 1030 is just not good in off for Epic for me, and didn't like the Plastic cover for the Main Head Body, so after
shooting EPIC M8 with Steve Gibby and been impressed by the Miller Arrow 55 He swears by, I got the Miller Compass 25,
a Fantastic little head for Epic and Scarlett, with my Giant Gitzo Carbon Fiber Tripod and a 100mm Ball adapter is a perfect
light weight and travel set of support.
