Your own Mike Most is handling all of the color grading on this show, working directly from the R3d files using Baselight. Episode 3 is being completed tomorrow.

Even though you didn't ask, I also did the grading work on the 187 Detroit pilot (primarily Red, but also using Canon 7D and Iconix cameras), and am working on the series Covert Affairs, which will be airing on USA Network shortly (also primarily Red, with some shots on Canon). The facility I'm with (Next Element by Deluxe, in Burbank) will also be doing the finishing work on both Southland and Shameless (Julius Friede did the grading on the Southland series and the Shameless pilot).

And (finally, at least for this post...) 187 Detroit is not yet committed to using Red on the series (for one thing, they haven't hired a DP yet, at least not as of this past Thursday), but they were happy with it on the pilot, which was shot by Jimmy Muro. As was I.

I was the DIT on the Shameless pilot [will likely come back for the series], the 187 Detroit pilot, Pretty Little Liars [season 1], the Rizzoli & Isles pilot [Nate Kalushner is the DIT on the 1st season] and the first two seasons of Southland [will likely return depending on scheduling]. The RED ONE has really exploded in TV land... and that's all just in the last few months. Good times!

BTW, I really enjoyed doing the 187 pilot. I was a bit disappointed that Jimmy couldn't make it in while we were finishing it, but I worked directly with Jeffrey and I think we really did it justice, with essentially all of our grading choices being story driven. I think Jimmy will like where we took it.

Having been the DIT on the pilot up here in Vancouver it's great to hear they're sticking with RED!
